Baby Eczema ..

Baby eczema is very common, and It could also be very scary looking. My second son has had a bad case of it, and I've tried what feels like everything to help him with it. I would like to share with you what has worked for us and what hasn't.

First thing is to try and find out what is irritating him/her. Common things are:

  • New foods? - dairy, nuts, fruits, seafood are very common... Keep in mind breastfeeding mothers try to avoid foods with these in them.
here is a great Link with great information on allergies, how it can be treated?
  • Laundry Soap? - try using a non scented laundry soaps. we use this one - Tide free and gentle.

  • Bath Soap? Try using a gentle non soap cleanser. we use cetaphil

  • perfumes/lotion with perfumes in them? I don't use these anymore. Instead use non scented lotions.

Keep your babies skin hydrated- Right after a shower/bath apply a moisturizer and a protectant
I used Cetaphil moisturizing  cream + hydrophor skin Ointment. This has been the perfect combination.  Another thing is to Keep your babies nails short and clean. I would put mitts on his hands and even socks.
Some products I've tried and worked but not as well-

The two things that caught my eye on this product is ORGANIC and ECZEMA. This product smells Great, but he was still scratching.

This product is good for that instant scratch relief. But will not be enough moisture to keep the eczema away.

Crock Pot Newbie

I am very new to the crock pot cooking. almost everyone i know has one. So my husband has recently bought me one (thank you husband). It seems so easy just SET it and FORGET it is what ive heard people say. but don't really forget about it cause then it will burn or will it? here is my first every crock pot meal.
Bacon wrapped BBQ Apple Chicken

what you will need
3-4 chicken breast ( I used chicken 6 Chicken strips)
1/2 cup BBQ sauce
1/2 apples, peeled and grated (I cut mines into slices)
1 lemon (juiced)
6-8 slices of bacon

Directions:

First I cut up the apple into strips

Then added BBQ sauce

Then added juice of 2 Lemons

Then wrapped the bacon around the Chicken strips

Lined the bottom of the crock pot with the Bacon wrapped chicken

Stirred the apple BBQ sauce mixture and poured it on top the Bacon wrapped chicken.

set in on low for 8 hours and forgot about it. I only waited about 5 hours then  i served it with some mash potatoes.

Here is what it looked like. It was very delishuzzzz. & I don't like BBQ sauce.

Please feel free to leave a comment below. I would love to here what's your favorite recipes and if you have ever used a crock pot. =D

Happy New Year!

Oh the joy of starting off FRESH! I don't really make new years resolutions but this year I will. My new years resolution is to be more organized (who's isn't). I've been searching online about how to become more organize and there are so many helpful tips and printables.  I do love a new beginning.

Here is something Me and Riley made to help us get organized.
We got the frame from the dollar tree. (Which is the best dollar store cause everything is a dollar and under.)

I made the blue boxes in photoshop.

Then we googled angry birds (because Riley is so into angry birds right now) & this awesome picture popped up which is perfect cause Riley also loves super heroes.

We printed them both out on two separate pieces of paper and layed them on each other in the frame.

Now we have our very own dry erase calendar!!

WHATS YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTION?
& HOW DO YOU STAY ORGANIZED?
PLEASE SHARE.

Hotel life

Hotel life can be pretty boring at times. especially for children. I try to think of different things for Riley to do everyday. So this day we decided to walk around and take photos & he loved it. It's so fun to me to look at the photos that he took and see the world at a whole different angle.

Road trippin' with children

Recently we had a road trip to another state. It was supposed to be a 6 hour drive but it turned into a 8 hour drive (stopping to breastfeed, change diapers, bathroom breaks, etc).  Some things that helped keep my 3 year old busy was books, IPAD, & the dvd player in the car (which had his favorite movie PONYO in it)

I really enjoyed all the sights but unfortunately i didn't get to take any photos  I found 1 photo I took of Me and Riley @ a pitstop. So future note charge camera before road trips. My cellphone (which is what I always use to take photos) was being used as a GPS on this trip.

peep his I don't want to take a pic with you mom FACE

When we got down to the last 20 minutes my 5 month old decided that he could not take another minute of sitting in his car seat. He began to cry and nothing seemed to make him stop.  I went through the mommy checklist

  1. DIAPER?
  2. HUNGRY?
  3. GAS?
  4. HURT?

Nothing was wrong so we all had to tough it out for 20 more minutes. (any suggestions?) I am sure I will be on another road trip in the future & would love to hear what worked for other mommies out there. :)

Have you ever been on a road trip with kids? please let me know how you handled it. What kept your kids busy?

Fairfax County Fair

This was the cutest smallest fair i have ever been too.
(with cow pies everywhere might i add)
RIGHT when we got to the area where the rides were the
sweetest couple gave us a whole sheet of tickets because
 they were leaving.

Riley had so much fun just looking at the COWS
(trying to tell them how stinky there poop IS)

He thought he was winning the race.

Out of all the seats he chose to be in the caboose with a little girl
"OH BOY"

Riley's first ROLLERCOASTER

He had so much fun

Fun in the TEAPOTS
